Wonderful! The application has been launched for the Blackberry (my phone, so), and for the people who live in the provinces of Guerrero, Oaxaca (where I live, therefore), Michoacan and Jalisco. In Short for all those who are in the States or the Pacific coast is near. This free application allows therefore to the people equipped with the Blackberry (yeah, if I find a single indigenous team, promised, I offer you the french fries to the Nutella!) to be notified 60 seconds before the general alert that an earthquake will strike. In addition, Marcelo Ebrard (the most French of the Mexicans, in view of its family origins paloises), has announced that the cities and villages will be equipped with sensitive speakers to the streets to alert people. SUPER! Therefore, you take the case of our village, lying on a beach of the Pacific. Thou hast thee sixty seconds for panic. Either. Therefore not even the time to check that a tsunami is preparing for the wide and that your destiny is not to finish in broken-slab for whale hungry… I remain firmly convinced that it is a very bad idea this early warning. Because in sixty seconds, you have the time to do anything concrete, but by thee against es widely team to stress. And in a minute, it thee in past the stress and anxiety by the head… Therefore, I believe that I am not going to download this free application. But thank you very much Mr. Ebrard, thank you Mr. BlackBerry, and if ca allows you to sleep relieved the night because you've done everything you could, it is perfect. Uh otherwise, consider to build shacks a little more solid for the premises, with windows and roofs in palapa which do not evaporate in the first breath of air, you do not say?

It was a long time ago that I have not done a small serious assessment of my privileged subject of study. Here are a few new salient, identified during these last few months. All photos are from "My personal album".

The Secretary of State for culture, Cora Amalia Castilla, handed a recognition to Plácida Kan Kinil, for having obtained the Regional Prize of Conte in Indigenous Languages 2010. The text, written in maya language, is entitled " Pichib " And is shown in Quintana Roo.

The other prices have been attributed to:

Maria Jiménez (Tabasco) for " The huesuda "Writing in chol,

Marceal Mendez (Chiapas) for " El hijo del emit rays "Writing in tzeltzal,

Vicente Canche (Yucatán) for " Sequia "Written in maya,

Jose Aguilar (Quintana Roo) for " Bajo el arbol "Written in maya,

In fact, as the reported Fernando Benitez in his work " The Indians of Mexico ", The recognition and the recovery of Hispanic cultures of America is a relatively recent phenomenon.

The decision was made during the ENLM (encuentro nacional de las lenguas maternas) of Chichén Itzá. Now, the judicial power of the State of Yucatán would allow members of the inalienability (National Institute of Indigenous Languages) to serve as the accredited experts in indigenous languages, and therefore of translators, in the trial. This for a guarantee toward indigenous people of the State which are faced with accusations and judgments against them.

It is the alarm signal which is fear. For three years, the treaty of indigenous girls has increased in an "alarming". Why they particularly? Because their disappearances go unnoticed (little of interest of the public authorities), they speak dialects of non-understandable everywhere, and have been educated to " be docile". On 60 disappearances identified, 10% are in children from "ethnic minorities", however, the indigenous represent only 7 to 10% of the overall population, which increases insidiously the figure of proportion. Another concern raised by this "alert" : the girls grow up in patriarchal systems, or the women have no value, and are sold by their own fathers.

Amerindian GENOME

Marta Menjívar, of the UNAM, the insured: the health system must consider that the Mexican population has a "genome Amerindian". This consideration would help to understand some national problems of health, such as a predisposition to diabetes or obesity, particularly affecting the mexican mestizo population. As well, studies show that the average Mexican is shown by 70% of indigenous genetic components, 25% Caucasian, and 5% of African gene.

Indigenous Languages

In Mexico, we note the disappearance of 19 indigenous languages. The ethnic population that is aging the used each year, and if the younger generations understand the breast idiom, they will no longer communicate in an indigenous language between them.

Reasons for this: the migration to find a job, the adoption of the Spanish and its "assimilation" to modernity, make that a lot of indigenous people are leaving, or even were no longer taught their "mother" tongue.

The last census in 2010 by the INEGI reports the existence of 89 indigenous languages, among which 9 are spoken by less than 10 people, and another dozen only spoken by about a hundred people. The languages close to extinction are: the Chinanteco (Lalana), the popoluca (Oluta), the Texistepec popoluca of, the Zapotec (El Rincon), the Chinanteco of Sochiapan, the papabuco.

16 Other idioms are spoken only by a thousand people: the paipai, the kumial, the cucapá, the cakchiquel, the Quiché, the Jacalteco, ixcateco, the seri and the pápago or the kikapú.

The nahuatl is the language most widely spoken indigenous (1.5 million people), followed by the maya (786,000 persons), and the Mixtec (Oaxaca, 472,000 people). Then come the Tzeltal and Tzotzil (Chiapas), as well as the Zapotec (Oaxaca and Veracruz).

Here is - without the images, bouhou - the press release announcing the collection:

The 2nd edition of CONFLUENCE OF CULTURES had this year on the theme "a gateway between two worlds".

The event which was held from the 20 to October 22, 2011 found today an extension in the operation "a suitcase for the Niños ", collection of school supplies for the children of San Augustinillo in Mexico, the country of adoption of Gracianne Hastoy.

This initiative, born from the encounter of the writer with the students of the Piedmont, just as well write a beautiful conclusion with this "outstretched hand" of the children of the Béarn to niños of Mexico.

In the framework of confluence of Cultures, Gracianne Hastoy is aisle at the meeting of students of CM2 in the 3 libraries of the CPPO, Agnos, Gurmencon and Lasseube. The writer spoke to them of his small village of San Augustinillo in the state of Oaxaca (Mexico), where she lives when it is not in the Basque Country.

The children were able to discover another reality, and in particular the difficulties of access to education.

Down here on the edge of the Pacific, the communal school welcomes 30 children in conditions more than rudimentary. Furniture, books, school supplies… they lack any!

 A momentum of spontaneous generosity

The pupils of the Piedmont were very affected by the deprivation of these children of the same age as them. One was prepared to offer the ti-shirt he was wearing when one gave his specifications just begun.

Multiple impulses of spontaneous generosity are born that day. They are the ones who have triggered the operation "a suitcase for the Niños" put in place by the CCPO in partnership with the associations "books without borders" and "Land of memory(s) and of struggles", and the contribution of Gracianne Hastoy.

 Collection of supplies and donations for the Mexican school

A collection of school supplies and of drawings was organized via the network of libraries and schools of the Piedmont. The list (see below) has been established by Gracianne Hastoy who knows well the needs of the school (it will be presented to Oloron on 19 November).

All donations will be made on 19 November from 10h30 to 12h to the small bookstore * , the seat of the association "books without borders" and will be capitalized by those who have already been carried out since Confluence of cultures.

The CCPO will support the routing of the parcel up to San Augustinillo, Gracianne Hastoy is loading to ensure that the package arrived in port and is equitably distributed to students.

In addition to the supplies, a piggy bank will be installed to the small bookstore to collect the donations in cash: the money will be used to fund the achievement by a carpenter of Mexican movable intended to the basic equipment of the school (chairs, tables, shelves, table… ).

For the CCPO, this action is also a way to thank Gracianne Hastoy for the quality of its interventions and its generosity. The author had held to participate complimentary Confluence of Cultures, through attachment to his hometown.

When i, the past year, had the good fortune to visit Bonampak and to go to meet the Lacandons, my first comment was to say: " There still must be full of sites such as the latter, unsung, dating from the time of the Maya ". I am also told that I was sorry not to be an archaeologist, to dedicate my life to delve into the Mexican soil so rich yet of best kept secrets. And vlan, today, the new is dropped: in the heart of Chiapas, to Plan of Ayutla, not far from Ocosingo (the city dear to B. Traven) has just been found a Maya archaeological site, which could have been the political center of Bonampak. Luis Alberto Martos, director of the project, is therefore a happy man. He and his "assistants" have discovered a gem of more than 2,000 years. Mazette! And some "frescoes" could even date of 3,000 years, because their study suggests the first strokes of Maya art. There are, as on other Mayan sites, the famous "ball game", as what no one has really invented nothing since. Of course, there is still work in the area, and I do not know if this site will soon be opened to the public, but I am willing to take the bet that there will be a great many more discoveries of this order. I think of "Chambor", the Lacandon, which must be super happy and proud, him the guardian of the temple of Bonampak. And to all the other "Chambor" (to believe that all male Lacandons are named as such) met there and with which it has shared the wonderful moments!
